The Star boat was designed in 1911 and in a recognized way it is still one of the most aesthetic and powerful keelboats in the world. It was an olympic class from 1932 until London 2012 with just a few interruptions. Until the XXX Olympic Games it was the “premier class” of international yacht sailing with an amazing valuable network of great people from all over the world. Since then: “Honoring the past and leading the future” is the mission.
After the loss of the olympic status the Star Sailors League selected the class as its vehicle to transport values of close fleet racing, internationally renowned sport “heroes” culminating in a thrilling finale in December from 2013 to 2019 with spectacular media coverage.

★ BIG(3) is now connecting the efforts of the SSL with the drive and enthusiasm of star sailors themselves to promote traditional star regattas within Europe to bring the fleet racing experience to a wide and especially younger audience.

★ BIG(3) is a series of 3 top-events in europe. (NORTH / MID / SOUTH).
Structurally they are located below the Star Class Worlds and Continental Championships.

Locally they are ideally driven by a bunch of regional fleets, merging their energies and budgets and traditions for a common Full-Power-Top-Event on a first-class sailing area with best race management, jury, party, surprising moments and activities.
